Boca Juniors has decided to rescind the contract of Ánder Herrera, who failed to meet expectations in his year and a half at the club. The club informed the Spanish player that he would not be considered by the new coaching staff and in the next few hours, his contract will be terminated. He leaves the club after a year and a half plagued by injuries, far from meeting expectations. In the negotiations with the Boca Juniors' board, Rodolfo Arruabarrena presented some conditions. Among them, the need to depurate a team that did not meet expectations in the last seasons. The DT presented a list of players who would not be considered, and the most notable name was that of Ánder Herrera, who in the next few hours will sign his contract termination and will leave the club definitively. Nicolás Orsini also rescinded his contract and left Boca. After a year and a half in which he did not manage to maintain continuity due to his successive muscle injuries, the adventure of the Spanish midfielder in Argentina came to an end. With six months left on his contract with the Xeneize, the decision was made unexpectedly with the arrival of the new coaching staff. Although the intention of the board was for him to fulfill the six months left, by request of the DT, they contacted the player's representation and informed him that he would not be part of the team for the rest of 2026. In the contract renewal at the beginning of the year, it was hoped that the Basque player could avoid his muscle problems; that did not happen and that's why his cycle ended. With a very good relationship with Juan Román Riquelme, they hope that the termination will be in the best terms. Despite the fact that the Spanish player had the intention of continuing, both he and the president of the Xeneize understand that both parties did everything possible to make the outcome different. Unfortunately, the physical condition of the 36-year-old midfielder did not accompany and the sports results did not either. As a result, Herrera leaves Boca after almost a year and a half in which he played only 29 of the 68 games the club had since his arrival, with a goal (against Barcelona, in the Copa Libertadores). In total, he played 1,174 minutes on the field, an average of 40 minutes per game played, and suffered no less than six muscle tears. Ánder Herrera sealed Boca's win against Barcelona (SC). The idea of Arruabarrena is to assume a reduced team and in which all are in conditions to fight for a place. That's why the termination of Nicolás Orsini has already been given, now they are working on Ánder Herrera's and in the next few days several more exits could be concretized: Agustín Martegani, Lucas Janson, Juan Ramírez and some more.
