Ander Herrera's stint at Boca Juniors appears to be coming to an end 18 months after his arrival. According to El Correo, the 36-year-old player has decided to end his link with the Buenos Aires club. The departure will be amicable and at the player's initiative, although it is unclear when an official announcement will be made. Herrera fulfilled a long-held desire to play in La Bombonera in January 2025, joining the team after terminating his contract with Athletic. He moved to Buenos Aires with his wife and daughters. He played 18 games between the league, national cup, Copa Libertadores, and Club World Cup. Injuries limited his contribution, as they did in his second stint at San Mamés. The Bilbao midfielder has played 440 games professionally, having defended the colors of Zaragoza, Athletic, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, and Boca. Some have linked him with a return to Zaragoza, which has been relegated to Primera Federación, but his next destination remains uncertain. A farewell appearance at La Romareda alongside his former teammate Ibai Gómez is, for now, just a possibility.
